Aishihik Integrated Wildlife Management Plan
Principles
In spite of a standardized structure of integrated wildlife planning in the
Yukon, each plan turns out to be quite unique due to the particular interests
and management styles that prevail in each First Nation Traditional Territory.
In this case the Aishihik planning group established four guiding principles
to clarify the intent of the plan and how it will be implemented.

| PRINCIPLE
1
"To take an ecosystem-based management approach so that
populations stay within ecosystem tolerances and at levels that
provide reasonable harvest opportunities for all hunters."
|
| PRINCIPLE
2
"To take an ecosystem-based management approach that maintains
viable wolf populations that are consistent both with ecosystem
integrity and prey populations established by the plan."
|
| PRINCIPLE
3
"To maintain a combined experimental and monitoring approach
to the five-year plan."
|
| PRINCIPLE
4
"Major management decisions require a minimum of 2 years
of information in order to increase the certainty of observed
trends in predator and prey populations before responding with
management actions."
