RECOMMENDATION
from the Aishihik Integrated Wildlife Management Planning Workshop concerning
ACCESS MANAGEMENT

To: Yukon Fish and Wildlife Management Board
Regarding: Impacts of Access on Sheep Populations in the Planning Area

Issue:

Despite reports of high levels of hunter activity in the accessible portions of sheep range in the planning area populations have not declined overall but rather a shift away from such areas is evident. The possibility of disturbance from hunting activity and related off-road vehicle activity merits further attention

RECOMMENDATION to YFWMB:

With the understanding that the YFWMB is at the point of developing recommendations for further examination of habitat disturbance from off-road vehicles, the workshop recommended that the potential disturbance involving sheep in the planning area should be brought to the attention of the Board for possible inclusion in recommendations for future monitoring and investigation.
