Action Details: Alaska Highway

Modify highway environment to deter bison

Bison are attracted to the Alaska Highway because of the Brome grass that is sown and fertilized on the margins. Where the grass has been removed by machinery activity, it has been observed that bison do not frequent the area. Replacement of the grass with some other vegetation (poppies are used in Alaska) may be effective in keeping bison away from the highway.
