Solution: Use permit system in Yukon to monitor resident harvest.

Although people resent restrictions that permit systems involve, the need to carefully manage moose in the Alsek Area is generally acknowledged. Creating better opportunities for local residents to hunt in their own area would also address some current frustrations with the system. It should also be noted that harvest information for the B.C. portion outside the Park relies on questionnaires which do not provide as accurate data as permits. Permits, however, could only be justified by demonstrating a need to limit the harvest.
