Moose are considered as an 'indicator species' of a healthy northern ecosystem and are always an important feature of the natural environment that Yukon residents appreciate and visitors look for. At the same time they are usually taken for granted in a non-consumptive/management sense. None of the typical management programs provide greater opportunities for people to encounter moose or facilitate understanding and appreciating them.
