Action Details: Populations

Concern: Little is known about how wolves are affecting the moose population.

Information on the relationship between wolves and moose in the planning area outside KNP was gathered during the wolf control program from 1983-85 and continued to 1988. Wolves inside the Park have been monitored with radio-collars since 1993. The current effect of wolves on moose in the planning area must be considered in the overall moose management plan if a corresponding wolf management program is being contemplated.
