RECOMMENDATION RRC-9
from the Mayo District Renewable Resources Council resulting from
INTEGRATED WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT PLANNING WORKSHOP

To the Yukon Department of Renewable Resources
Re: Enforcement of trapline by-laws

Current Status:

When the Umbrella Final Agreement came into legal effect on February 14, 1995, the RRC's were granted authority to recommend local by-laws with respect to trapping.

Concern:

Under the present Yukon Wildlife Act there is no provision for the enforcement of trapline by-laws recommended by RRCs and approved by the Minister.

RECOMMENDATION to YDRR:

The Council therefore recommends that the Yukon Government amend the Yukon Wildlife Act to allow for the enforcement of by-laws recommended by Renewable Resources Councils and approved by the Minister.
