Cumulative effects of development

RRDC has long expressed concerns about cumulative effects of development in its traditional territory. As it stands, each proposed activity is judged in isolation and there is no means of determining how much development a certain area can tolerate. Although the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act and the Regional Environmental Review Committee consider cumulative impacts, this system has not proven effective to date. (Recommendation R-3)
