Action Details: Harvest Work on Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) towards collection of First Nations harvest information without prejudice to partners It was agreed that harvest monitoring is a fundamental requirement for an integrated wildlife management plan. However, many considerations must be addressed with respect to monitoring First Nations harvests, particularly prior to land claim settlement. The level of detail required from hunters, access to information and public disclosure of information are issues that must be addressed to the satisfaction of the First Nation. These and other concerns could be best addressed through an MOU between YTG and RRDC to the effect that gathering and reporting harvest information would in no way "prejudice", that is, "be used in" land claims negotiations. RRDC should also send a representative to a workshop on June 10, 1997 where coordinated harvest monitoring by First Nations will be discussed.
