Action Details: Population

Count wolves in Ross River area

Wolves should be counted in late winter to determine total numbers, number of packs and average pack size. Wolves are counted by following tracks until the pack is located. On-the-land observers, especially trappers should also be contacted. This is presently done through a territory wide trapper questionnaire but it only has a 40% return rate. Specific additional effort should be made in Ross River to get a better return rate and make use of the important local information.
