Keep track of water license renewals by developments in RRDTT

All mitigation costs of mine development, operation and abandonment should be covered by companies. Part of the water licence process requires each mining company to provide for the cost of mine abandonment and to post a bond which remains in place until mine closure. Upon renewal of the water licence, a revised cost of abandonment is required that should be matched by the appropriate bond. Monitoring the water licence renewal process would be a good way to keep track of mining company activities, the accuracy of their abandonment assessments and the guarantee that full abandonment costs will be covered. A summary of this process is available from YDRR and DIAND.
