Teach proper ways to make gaffs and gaff fish

Improper construction of gaffs and lack of training in the method of gaffing may cause unnecessary wounding and harassment of salmon. The problem here has to do with the proper construction and use of the gaff. RRDC has a traditional fish camp for young people where elders will teach the correct methods. It was noted that the Champagne & Aishihik First Nation issues fishing licenses to its beneficiaries and to obtain one certain traditional methods must be learned.
