Integrated Wildlife Management Plan - Ross River Traditional Territory For generations beyond counting, people and wildlife of the Ross River Traditional Territory (RRTT) have pursued a common history of survival. This shaped the Ross River Dena culture and established the people as stewards of the land - a responsibility that is now shared with Yukon society as a whole and one that will ultimately be formalized under a land claims agreement. Although industrial developments are not new to RRTT, the dramatic acceleration of mining related activities in the mid 1990's emphasized an urgent need for a comprehensive wildlife management plan. Its purpose is to provide protection for wildlife, to provide some harvest opportunities to the general population and to guarantee sustainable harvests for the Ross River Dena while permitting safe levels of development to proceed. Additionally, this plan gives a strong local voice in the management renewable resources in the RRTT.
