SLWCC will consider a wide range of information before making recommendations on wildlife and habitat management in the Southern Lakes area. We will use the best available traditional knowledge and scientific information.
This information may include (but is not limited to):
- Subsistence food needs of the First Nations;
- Harvest data provided by all user groups in the Southern Lakes area;
- Wildlife harvest patterns of all user groups in the Southern Lakes area and changes to those patterns;
- The existing regulatory framework, programs, plans, and policies that affect wildlife in the Southern Lakes area;
- Any previous studies of wildlife in the Southern Lakes area;
- Knowledge and experience of the First Nations, residents of the Southern Lakes area, and the scientific communities about wildlife in the Southern Lakes area;
- Present state of wildlife populations and habitat in the Southern Lakes area;
- Any other information that is helpful and available.
